About OBD2 Code Lookup

OBD2 Code Lookup is an independent reference site that explains car diagnostic trouble codes (OBD2/DTC) in plain English. Every check-engine light means a stored code — and thousands of those codes are hard to understand without wading through forums and paywalled manuals. Our goal is to give you a clear, accurate answer in one place: what the code means, the likely causes, what it costs to fix, and whether you can keep driving.

How our pages are made

Each code page is built from public, widely-cited reference data and reviewed for plain-language accuracy. Costs are typical US-market ranges, not quotes — your actual cost will vary by vehicle, location, and shop.

Data sources & attribution

We build on open datasets, including the Wal33D/dtc-database (MIT-licensed) and mytrile/obd-trouble-codes. We're grateful to their maintainers.

Important

This site is informational only. It is not professional mechanic advice, and a code alone is never a complete diagnosis. Always have a qualified technician confirm a diagnosis before ordering parts or doing major repairs.
