P0113 on a Toyota: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ข Low severity ยท drivable
Safe to drive โ the engine just reads intake air temperature wrong, which may make it run slightly rich.
What P0113 means on a Toyota
On a Toyota, P0113 means the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is sending a high-voltage, open-circuit signal. On most Toyotas the IAT sensor is built into the mass air flow (MAF) sensor, so this code usually points to that assembly or its connector. The engine may run slightly rich until it is fixed.
Is P0113 common on Toyotas?
P0113 is fairly common on higher-mileage Toyotas, where the MAF/IAT assembly gets dirty or fails and the connector terminals corrode. Camrys, Corollas, and RAV4s see this after years of service. It is a sensor fault, not an engine failure.
Commonly reported on: Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Tacoma.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Slightly rich running or worse fuel economy
- Possible hard starting in cold weather
- Often no noticeable symptoms
Common causes
- most common: Faulty MAF/IAT sensor assembly
- common: Dirty or contaminated sensor element
- common: Corroded or loose connector
- less common: Damaged wiring to the sensor
