P0335 on a Honda: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
⚠️ Severe · not recommended to drive
The engine may crank without starting or stall while driving, so have the Honda towed instead of driven.
What P0335 means on a Honda
On a Honda, P0335 means the computer has lost the crankshaft position signal it needs to fire the ignition and fuel injectors. A Civic or Accord with this code may crank without starting or stall while driving.
Is P0335 common on Hondas?
Honda crankshaft sensors are generally reliable, but the code appears on higher-mileage models when the sensor fails or its wiring gets damaged near the timing area. Oil or debris on the connector can also cause the signal to drop out.
Commonly reported on: Civic, Accord, CR-V, Pilot.
Symptoms
- Engine cranks but won't start
- Engine stalls while driving
- Check engine light is on
- Engine may run rough right before it dies
Common causes

- common: Oil or debris on the sensor connector
- less common: Loose sensor mounting changing the gap

| Clean and reseat the connector, then repair any damaged wiring | Yes | $20–150 |
