P0106 on a Jeep: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
Safe to drive, but rough idle, stalling, and reduced power are common until the MAP sensor or vacuum issue is fixed.
What P0106 means on a Jeep
On a Jeep, P0106 means the engine computer sees a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor reading that is out of range for the current engine conditions. The MAP sensor measures intake vacuum and engine load, so a bad reading makes the computer guess wrong on fuel and spark. On Jeeps this usually comes down to a vacuum leak or a weak sensor.
Is P0106 common on Jeeps?
P0106 is very familiar on older Jeeps with the 4.0L inline-six, like Cherokee and Wrangler models, where the MAP sensor and its vacuum line are known wear items. Cracking vacuum lines and a failing sensor are the typical culprits on these engines. Grand Cherokee and newer models can see it too after high mileage.
Commonly reported on: Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Liberty.
