P0106 on a Ford: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
You can usually drive a Ford short-term with P0106, but a wrong MAP reading can cause rough running and poor fuel economy, so fix it soon.
What P0106 means on a Ford
On a Ford, P0106 means the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor signal is outside the range the engine computer expects for the current engine load. The PCM compares the reading to throttle position and speed and finds a mismatch. This usually points to a vacuum leak, a dirty or failing MAP sensor, or a blocked sensor hose.
Is P0106 common on Fords?
P0106 appears on Fords where the MAP sensor or its vacuum line ages, and on trucks and SUVs the wiring can chafe from engine movement. A cracked vacuum line, a dirty sensor, or a loose connector are the typical findings. It is a sensor or vacuum fault, not an engine failure.
Commonly reported on: F-150, Escape, Focus, Explorer.
