P0430 on a Volvo: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
Drivable in the short term, but the bank 2 converter problem should be checked soon.
What P0430 means on a Volvo
On a Volvo, P0430 means the computer sees the bank 2 catalytic converter cleaning exhaust less effectively than it should. Most Volvos use inline four- or five-cylinder engines with a single bank, so this code mainly appears on the V8 models.
Is P0430 common on Volvos?
The V8 versions of the XC90 and S80 are the Volvos most likely to see P0430, usually on higher-mileage examples. On these models the oxygen sensors and converters follow the same wear pattern you see on any V engine.
Commonly reported on: XC90, S80.
