P0441 on a Toyota: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ข Low severity ยท drivable
You can keep driving โ this is an emissions-system fault, not a mechanical one โ but get it fixed before your next emissions test.
What P0441 means on a Toyota
On a Toyota, P0441 means the evaporative emission (EVAP) system is purging fuel vapors at the wrong flow rate. The purge valve (Toyota calls it a vacuum switching valve, or VSV) opens to send stored fuel vapors into the engine, and when the computer sees the wrong flow it sets this code. The car usually keeps driving normally.
Is P0441 common on Toyotas?
P0441 shows up on Toyotas like the Camry, Corolla, and RAV4, often as the purge valve ages and sticks or fails. A loose or damaged gas cap is also a common trigger. This is an emissions fault, not a drivability fault, so you may notice nothing besides the check engine light.
Commonly reported on: Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Highlander.
