P0121 on a Nissan: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
Usually drivable, but the engine may go into reduced-power mode, so drive carefully and get it checked soon.
What P0121 means on a Nissan
On a Nissan, P0121 means the throttle position sensor signal does not match the expected engine conditions. Newer Nissans use drive-by-wire with the sensor inside the throttle body, and carbon buildup is a common cause of this code. On older cable-throttle models, the throttle position sensor itself wears out.
Is P0121 common on Nissans?
P0121 appears on Altima, Rogue, and Sentra models, often with throttle body carbon or a failing throttle body. Throttle body issues are common on higher-mileage Nissans, and cleaning or replacing the throttle body is the usual fix.
