P0121 on a Chevy: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
Usually drivable, but the engine may go into reduced-power mode, so drive carefully and get it checked soon.
What P0121 means on a Chevy
On a Chevy, P0121 means the throttle position sensor signal does not match the expected engine conditions. Newer Chevys use drive-by-wire, and carbon buildup in the throttle body is a common cause of this code on GM engines. On older cable-throttle models, the separate throttle position sensor wears out over time.
Is P0121 common on Chevys?
P0121 shows up on Silverado, Equinox, and Tahoe models with higher mileage. GM throttle bodies collect carbon that affects throttle response, and the throttle body itself can fail on higher-mileage trucks.
Commonly reported on: Silverado, Equinox, Malibu, Tahoe.
