P0325 on a BMW: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
You can drive, but the engine runs with reduced timing protection and fuel economy may drop, so have the knock sensor checked soon.
What P0325 means on a BMW
On a BMW, P0325 means the knock sensor on bank 1 is not sending a proper signal to the engine computer. The sensor lets the engine computer adjust timing to prevent knock; a bad sensor or damaged wiring leaves the engine without that protection.
Is P0325 common on BMWs?
P0325 shows up on BMWs with the inline six-cylinder engines, especially 3 Series, 5 Series, X3, and X5 models. Chafed knock sensor wiring in the engine harness is a known cause on these engines, and the sensor itself can fail with age.
Commonly reported on: 3 Series, 5 Series, X3, X5.
