P0175 on a Chevy: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
🟠 Moderate severity · drivable
Drivable for a short time, but a rich mixture wastes fuel and can damage the catalytic converter, so fix it soon.
What P0175 means on a Chevy
On a Chevy, P0175 means bank 2 is running rich — too much fuel or not enough air. This code only shows up on V6 and V8 Chevys, since four-cylinder engines have one bank. A contaminated mass air flow sensor or a faulty oxygen sensor is the usual cause.
Is P0175 common on Chevys?
P0175 appears on Chevys like the Silverado, Tahoe, Camaro, and Equinox. GM mass air flow sensors collect dirt over time, which can make the engine run rich. Bank 2 oxygen sensors also fail with mileage, and a small exhaust leak can fool the sensor.
Commonly reported on: Silverado, Tahoe, Camaro, Equinox.
Symptoms
- Check engine light is on
- Poor fuel economy

Common causes

- common: Exhaust leak ahead of the bank 2 sensor
- less common: Leaking fuel injector on bank 2
