P0102 on a Mazda: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
Usually drivable, but a bad MAF signal can cause rough idling or stalling, so get it checked soon.
What P0102 means on a Mazda
On a Mazda, P0102 means the mass air flow (MAF) sensor is sending a signal lower than the engine computer expects. The computer can't tell how much air is entering, so it gets the fuel mixture wrong and the engine may idle rough, hesitate, or stall.
Is P0102 common on Mazdas?
P0102 shows up on Mazdas with higher mileage, especially the older 2.0L and 2.3L MZR engines in the Mazda3 and Mazda6 and the Skyactiv engines in newer Mazdas. A contaminated MAF sensor wire is the usual cause, often from a dirty air filter or oil vapors from the PCV system coating the sensor. Cracks in the intake hose can also play a part.
Commonly reported on: Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5, MX-5.
