P0102 on a Volvo: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
Usually drivable, but a weak MAF signal can cause rough idling or stalling, so get it checked soon.
What P0102 means on a Volvo
On a Volvo, P0102 means the mass air flow (MAF) sensor is sending a signal lower than the engine computer expects. The computer can't meter the incoming air, so fuel delivery goes off and the engine may idle rough, hesitate, or stall.
Is P0102 common on Volvos?
P0102 shows up on Volvos with higher mileage, especially the older 2.4L and 2.5T five-cylinder engines in the S60, V70, and first-generation XC90. MAF sensor failures are well known on these engines, and a cracked intake hose between the air box and the engine can also cause a low reading.
Commonly reported on: S60, V70, XC90, XC60.
