P0102 on a Ford: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
You can usually drive a Ford with P0102, but the engine may idle rough or stall until the sensor is fixed.
What P0102 means on a Ford
On a Ford, P0102 means the mass air flow sensor signal is lower than expected. The MAF sensor tells the engine computer how much air is coming in so it can set the fuel mixture. On Fords this usually means the sensor is dirty or failing, or air is getting in around it.
Is P0102 common on Fords?
P0102 is common on Fords with higher mileage, especially F-150s, Focuses, and Fusions. Dust and oil from the intake coat the MAF sensing element, which drops the signal. A dirty air filter makes it worse, and cleaning the sensor is often all that is needed.
Commonly reported on: F-150, Focus, Fusion, Escape.
