P0463 on a GMC: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ข Low severity ยท drivable
Safe to drive, but the fuel gauge may be wrong โ track your miles or fill up often so you don't run out of gas.
What P0463 means on a GMC
On a GMC, P0463 means the fuel level sender is sending a signal that's too high, so the computer thinks the tank is full. The sender is part of the fuel pump module on most GMCs, and its resistor strip wears with age. The engine runs normally; the gauge is what's stuck.
Is P0463 common on GMCs?
P0463 is common on higher-mileage GMCs like the Sierra, Yukon, and Terrain. Sender wear is the usual cause, and the fuel pump module has to come out of the tank to replace it. It's a gauge problem, not a performance problem.
Commonly reported on: Sierra, Yukon, Terrain.
