P0463 on a Chevy: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ข Low severity ยท drivable
Safe to drive, but the fuel gauge may be wrong โ track your miles or fill up often so you don't run out of gas.
What P0463 means on a Chevy
On a Chevy, P0463 means the fuel level sender is sending a signal that's too high, so the computer thinks the tank is full. The sender is built into the fuel pump module on most Chevys, and its resistor strip wears with age. The engine runs fine; the fuel gauge is usually what's stuck.
Is P0463 common on Chevys?
P0463 is common on higher-mileage Chevys like the Silverado, Equinox, and Malibu. Sender wear and connector corrosion are the usual causes, and on many models the fuel pump module has to come out of the tank to replace the sender. It's a gauge issue, not a drivability issue.
Commonly reported on: Silverado, Equinox, Malibu.
