P0011 on a Mazda: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
You can usually drive a Mazda to a shop with P0011, but check the oil level first, and if the engine runs rough or the light flashes, have it towed.
What P0011 means on a Mazda
On a Mazda, P0011 means the VVT system is advancing the intake camshaft on bank 1 further than the computer commanded. The camshaft is ahead of where it should be, usually because the oil control valve is sticking or oil pressure is low.
Is P0011 common on Mazdas?
P0011 appears on Mazda SkyActiv engines in the Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5. A dirty oil control valve and low oil level are the usual causes, and overdue oil changes can make the VVT system slow to respond.
Commonly reported on: Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5.
