P0011 on a Ford: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
You can usually drive a Ford to a shop with P0011, but check the oil level first, and if the engine runs rough or the light flashes, have it towed.
What P0011 means on a Ford
On a Ford, P0011 means the Ti-VCT variable valve timing system is advancing the intake camshaft on bank 1 further than the computer commanded. The camshaft is ahead of where it should be, usually because a VCT solenoid or cam phaser is sticking.
Is P0011 common on Fords?
P0011 is seen on Ford EcoBoost engines in the F-150, Escape, Edge, and Fusion, as well as the 2.5L Duratec. Dirty or failing VCT solenoids and low oil pressure are common causes, and on EcoBoost engines cam phaser wear and timing chain stretch can also set this code.
Commonly reported on: F-150, Escape, Edge, Fusion.
