P0011 on a GMC: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
You can usually drive a GMC to a shop with P0011, but check the oil level first, and if the engine runs rough or the light flashes, have it towed.
What P0011 means on a GMC
On a GMC, P0011 means the variable valve timing system is advancing the intake camshaft on bank 1 further than the computer commanded. The camshaft is ahead of where it should be, usually because a VVT solenoid or cam phaser is sticking.
Is P0011 common on GMCs?
P0011 appears on GMC models with VVT engines, including the Sierra, Yukon, Terrain, and Acadia. VVT solenoids are a known wear item on GM engines and often fail with overdue oil, and low oil pressure can also trigger the code.
Commonly reported on: Sierra, Yukon, Terrain, Acadia.
