P0011 on a Lexus: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
You can usually drive a Lexus to a shop with P0011, but check the oil level first, and if the engine runs rough or the light flashes, have it towed.
What P0011 means on a Lexus
On a Lexus, P0011 means the VVT-i system is advancing the intake camshaft timing on bank 1 further than the computer commanded. The camshaft ends up ahead of where it should be, usually because the VVT oil control valve cannot move or hold it correctly.
Is P0011 common on Lexuss?
P0011 is seen on Lexus models with VVT-i engines, such as the ES, RX, IS, and GS. A dirty or stuck oil control valve is the usual cause, often from overdue oil changes or sludge, and low oil level or pressure can also set the code.
Commonly reported on: ES, RX, IS, GS.
