P0011 on a Nissan: Causes, Fixes & Repair Cost
๐ Moderate severity ยท drivable
You can usually drive a Nissan to a shop with P0011, but check the oil level first, and if the engine runs rough or the light flashes, have it towed.
What P0011 means on a Nissan
On a Nissan, P0011 means the variable valve timing system is advancing the intake camshaft on bank 1 further than the computer commanded. The camshaft is ahead of where it should be, usually because the VVT oil control solenoid is sticking or oil pressure is low.
Is P0011 common on Nissans?
P0011 appears on Nissan models like the Altima, Rogue, Sentra, and Frontier. VVT oil control solenoids can clog with dirty oil, and low oil level or overdue oil changes are common triggers. On VQ V6 engines, timing chain stretch is also a known cause at higher mileage.
Commonly reported on: Altima, Rogue, Sentra, Frontier.
